Y2 Moments
What
Moments is about the turning effect that a force has on an object about a point.Â
You will need to:
Understand what a moment is
Be able to calculate a moment about a point and find the resultant moment of more than one force about a point
Be able to apply this knowledge along with your knowledge of forces to problems
Exam board note: The AQA teaching guidance states "Forces will not need to be resolved into components. " in relation to moments, so you should only need to use moments when the forces are perpendicular and therefore the more complex problems in here (eg ladders, flagpoles) will not be examined. Worth doing for fun though! The Edexcel specification refers to ladders specifically.
