Y1 Binomial Distribution
What
Binomial Distribution is a new topic that is not covered at GCSE. It is used to solve probability problems when data follows a Binomial Distribution. Furthermore you will be asked to perform a Hypothesis Test on a binomial distribution. This is a very important topic that will be extended in the second year. It is really important to get a firm understanding of the two important topics. You will be making extensive use of your calculator in these topics.
Specifically you will need to know
What are the properties of a Binomial Distribution and when is it appropriate to use it.
How to use of the Binomial Distribution: X ~ B(n, p)
The principles of Hypothesis testing and the meaning of key terms such as null hypothesis, alternative hypothesis, significance level, one/two tail tests, critical value, critical region
How to perform a Hypothesis test on data that is binomially distributed
