Graph Transformations

A topic that students often find very difficult at GCSE is Graph Transformations. This is a very important topic at A-Level and by developing a solid understanding of the aspects of this topic, other areas of Maths will become accessible.

You should know and be able to describe the transformations on y=f(x) that happen in each of the following cases

• y=f(x) + a

• y=f(x + a)

• y=af(x)

• y=f(ax)

• y=-f(x)

• y=f(-x)
