Y1 Probability
What
Most of the first year at A-Level is a consolidation of the more tricky topics at A-Level. You need to understand all the key ideas from GCSE including Tree Diagrams, Two Way Tables and Venn Diagrams.
This knowledge will be extended:
Knowing when a particular representation is appropriate, and how to interpret
Using set notation effectively, including use of intersections, unions and complements
Understanding of Mutually Exclusive and Independent events
An understanding of Discrete and Continuous data
Basic knowledge of Discrete Random Variable (and the meaning of a discrete uniform distribution). Note: you may see things on the web where the mean and variance is calculated from a Discrete Random Variable. This is not needed for your specification.
